the holga has a way of conveying feeling, sometimes
such is the case with these images
the dark photograph with the crashing waves was taken after a great day. we got friendly with a local who invited us to ke’e beach. we got to park our car right next the the lifeguard station and sipped a rum concoction out of iced coconuts they climbed up the trees to get. the lifeguard then gave us access to the part that said “don’t walk past this point.” many bug bites and slips later, we arrived at this beautiful point. i wish i could have caught it with the f-1, but that trail + the coconut rum meant there was no way i was lugging that gem on the hike. either way, i dig the results; really moody, just like i like it!
the other one of the bunch that sticks out to me is the color shot. it probably sticks out to me because my friend told me that location – Polihale – is where the buddha says that souls leave the earth. it is incredibly hot and stark there. a sense of emptiness pervades the place. it overpowers you with its glare. it dares you to stay too long.
